Day five: Atlantic big 5

We'd been looking forward to today all week. We booked a trip 2 1/2 hours away from Cape Town to go see some wildlife with marine biologists down in the conservation area of dyer island.

The drive down was just beautiful. Through mountains and long the coast line. It was simply gorgeous.

We arrived at the conservation base and got kitted up ready for the boat trip.

Stephen looked particularly fetching in his captain Birdseye jacket...

We boarded the boat and headed out into the bay. We almost immediately saw a bunch of humpback dolphins. Beautiful. But a little far away for decent photos.

We then headed over to their sister boat who were talking people diving with great white sharks. We were lucky enough to spot a huge one.

Next up we headed out into the ocean and came across 3 huge southern right whales. They were unbelievably close. Frolicking around.

And another one....

All boats are limited to just twenty minutes around the whales. So when our time was up we then headed to dyer island, a small rocky island with over 60,000 seals who call it home.

Amazing right??

On the way back to base we then saw a whole group of penguins swimming in the wild. Truely amazing.

We headed back, had a warming soup with bread to warm up. Then popped into the peguin sanctuary up the road where the biologists and vets rescue and care for injured peguins.

We headed back, super happy to have seen all
That amazing wildlife.

This evening was a quiet night in after 5 hours of driving.
