Our first stop this morning was to a township on the way out of Cape Town. Townships are basically shanty towns around the outskirts of the city.
We had a little wander around with the guide then went to try the local home brew. I'm not sure stephen was impressed.
We then had lunch in the township before driving up to our Cape site towards the border.
The drive was about 4 hours through the mountains and beautiful countryside, past vineyards and farms. We eventually arrived at our campsite on a wine farm in the mountains.
Now was the time to learn how to put up the tents. It ended up being rather easy.
Next up was wine tasting of the wines from the farm we were camping on. We tried 6 wines (yes stephen as well, and he actually quite liked them!) and had some paired with cheese. Basically the dream.
We settled on and wrapped up warm for our first nights camping. Very grateful it wasn't raining!
This more like glam ping, how good is that to camp on a wine area and have wine and cheese for supper! I assume they provided tents, glad not too much of an initiative test, you will have to advise on s African wines in future. Did u feel safe in township? Be interested to hear your views on that. Have wonderful adventure. Hope I slept well xxxx Great hear from you
